Start: ASAP Term: 2-3 months + possible extensions Working Arrangement: Onsite preferred, hybrid will be considered Position Objective This role leads Council's financial accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely statutory reporting, annual financial statements, audit coordination, general ledger integrity, treasury management, taxation compliance, grant and lease accounting, and financial control frameworks.
The position provides expert technical accounting advice to the CFO, oversees month-end and year-end close processes, manages investment and cash-flow reporting, and ensures compliance with relevant legislation, accounting standards, and Council policies.
The role also drives governance, risk management, and continuous improvement across finance operations by maintaining robust policies, procedures, systems, and internal controls.
It leads and develops finance staff,



coordinates responses to auditors and regulators, prepares reports for Council and governance committees, and escalates significant financial, compliance, audit, or fraud-related issues while supporting a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
