About the role This is an Aboriginal Identified Position - authorised under the S14d of the NSW Anti Discrimination Act **** This position is part time (15 hours per week) fixed term until 30 June ****, located at Queanbeyan.
The Aboriginal Health Worker will work as an important part of the Queanbeyan AOD Hub to improve health outcomes and reduce harm associated with drug and alcohol use for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
This position delivers practical support through community engagement, health promotion, identifying and addressing barriers to access and facilitating warm referrals.
This position works collaboratively with the other members of the Queanbeyan AOD team and external service providers to maximise care outcomes for consumers.

A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, and/or extensive experience in Aboriginal health, AOD, mental health, community services or social sciences.




Demonstrated understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal people and their health (including AOD) and the ability to effectively engage and communicate to address their health needs.
