Assistant Project Officer – Multiple Positions & Teams
Locations – Various locations across Sydney
Employment type – Temporary until June ****, Multiple vacancies
Salary – Grade 5/6 $99,398 - $110,271 plus superannuation and leave loading
Your role
In these roles you will assist in managing and implementing a range of projects across the Homes NSW, to support and improve service delivery and optimise outcomes in the portfolio performance and stakeholder relations.
What you'll do
Assist in managing a range of projects to deliver initiatives to Homes NSW.
Manage and undertake operational aspects of project implementation, including monitoring projects, coordinating resources, and managing deliverables and tasks.
Assist with research and analysis to support the development of key projects across the Homes NSW.
Assist in managing projects designed to review, monitor and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery within Homes NSW.
There are multiple roles across a number of streams within Homes NSW – Housing Portfolio:
Maintenance Strategy & Projects – Asset Relocation Team
Capital Maintenance Upgrades – Engagement Team
Maintenance Solutions (NCAT, Ombudsman and GIPA)
What we're looking for
Relocation Team
This role is primarily based at Strawberry Hills
Understanding of project management practices.
Experience in Scoping vacant properties and managing end to end process
Ensure appropriate delivery of works and develop action plans to address
work issues when necessary.
Ensure compliance with Australian Building Codes, Housing Portfolio standards, policies and contract requirements when assigning work to contractors
Conduct timely, accurate inspections according to the program and standards, maintaining records of inspections and required actions
Build and maintain positive relationships with contractors to facilitate effective inspection and maintenance programs
Identify and resolve compliance issues in collaboration with contractors, issuing necessary notices when required
Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
Current NSW driver's license.
Capital Maintenance Upgrades - Engagement Team
This role is primarily based in Parramatta.
The project team operates state-wide and a willingness to travel across NSW is required.
Engages regularly with the community to identify local issues, gather feedback and help find solutions that meet project and organisational needs.
Spot community-related risks early by understanding project goals.
Collaboratively plan and apply effective mitigation strategies.
Respond to community enquiries and complaints, and prepare clear, positive communication materials.
Work with colleagues to plan and deliver community engagement tasks so that all required processes and outcomes are achieved.
Create and support the delivery of communication and engagement content (across multiple formats and channels)



to help implement the agency's communications and engagement strategy for capital maintenance upgrade works.
Maintenance Solutions Team
Statewide flexibility with hybrid working arrangements.
To be successful in this role candidates will need to meet the requirements outlined below:
Conduct high‐quality research and analysis to provide timely, well‐considered advice, recommendations and resolutions on high‐priority complaint matters.
Govern, identify and appropriately escalate contentious and complex issues to mitigate operational, financial and reputational risks to Homes NSW.
Demonstrate strong adaptability, effectively managing competing priorities in a fast‐paced environment with critical deadlines.
Deliver accurate and timely advice to internal and external stakeholders to ensure Hearing, Notice and Evidence requirements are met within prescribed timeframes.
Oversee the effective delivery of maintenance works, developing action plans and interventions where required to address emerging issues.
Identify and resolve complex or sensitive issues in partnership with managers, APOs, Housing Services and DCJ Legal as required.
Monitor and track progress to ensure information, evidence and PONs are delivered within NCAT‐mandated timelines and Homes NSW procedures.
Prepare, review and present information required under GIPA, Summons or Subpoena processes.
Support and govern responses to preliminary Ombudsman enquiries, ensuring accuracy, consistency and timely delivery.
Demonstrate high levels of accountability, self‐management and attention to detail in all work undertaken.
Ensure tenant outcomes remain central, contributing positively to addressing the genuine housing crisis across NSW.
