Applications are now invited for a prominent Executive Leadership position at Marist College Canberra.

The Role
The Assistant Head of School – Studies has a strong commitment to boys' education and ensues quality teaching and learning is a focus for all staff and students.
This role fosters an exceptional and thriving learning community and provides strategic direction and leadership to a large and vibrant College Community.
The Assistant Head of School – Studies will report to the Assistant Head of School – Learning and Teaching and be a member of the Marist College Executive team.
He/she will work collaboratively with the Studies Team and the Heads of Department in leading quality learning and teaching in the College.




The Assistant Head of School – Studies is responsible for leading, managing, supporting, organising and implementing curriculum, studies, and timetable related matters across Years 4-12 with specific emphasis on Years 7 to 12.
The Assistant Head of School – Studies will be an exceptional educational leader with a passion for learning, teaching and organisation.
He/she will have experience of leadership as well as appropriate qualifications, be an excellent communicator and team player with strong interpersonal skills and a breadth of experience in computer technology usage.

Lead and sustain an authentic Catholic culture in the tradition of St. Marcellin Champagnat and the Marist Association, inspiring others to commit to a personal and shared mission.
Impact and influence Academic Care in the College by building high functioning teams; modelling, stimulating and providing opportunities for creative thinking, innovation and best or next practice.

Post-graduate qualification in curriculum/pedagogy or education leadership and a commitment to ongoing personal and professional learning.
An ability to provide dynamic and pro-active educational leadership and management in curriculum and timetable development




Experience and skills to facilitate effective change and develop high-quality policies and programs to support initiatives.
Skills to lead and manage in a consultative and collaborative way and to demonstrate high-level interpersonal skills in communication, liaison and negotiation.
An ability to lead a College wide vision for teaching and learning with a capacity to motivate, enthuse and lead staff in fulfilling their duties.
Effective management and organisational skills and administrative experience.

oyment Conditions
The Assistant Head of School – Studies will be appointed on an ongoing basis, with the employment contract commencement date of Monday 4 January ****.
The Assistant Head of School – Studies will undertake a performance review in the role in the second year, and then every four years, unless otherwise directed by the Headmaster.
The position is classified as Assistant Principal under the Teachers (Daramalan College, Marist College Canberra, and St Edmund's College, Canberra) Multi-Enterprise Agreement **** (the Agreement), as amended or replaced.
An annual salary commensurate with the skills and qualifications of the successful candidate will be as per the Enterprise Agreement.
The successful applicant will be expected to be prepared and ready to take up the appointment from the commencement of Semester 1, Monday 4 January ****.
