VIET KORNER PTY LTD ABOUT US: VIET KORNER PTY LTD (ABN **************) operates Viet Korner, a Vietnamese restaurant located at Shop 7, 4 Mullamar Way, Gawler East, South Australia.
The restaurant offers dine-in, takeaway and catering services to customers throughout the Gawler area.
Viet Korner serves a wide range of Vietnamese dishes, including pho, banh mi, vermicelli salad bowls, cold rolls, rice dishes, stir-fried noodles and signature soups.
The menu also includes vegetarian and gluten-free options to accommodate different customer preferences.
Operating seven days a week, Viet Korner is committed to providing freshly prepared meals, consistent food quality and friendly customer service.
ABOUT THE POSITION: Viet Korner is seeking an experienced and reliable Cook to join its kitchen team on a full time basis (38 hours/week; annual salary: $80,******,000 plus superannuation).
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a broad range of menu items while maintaining consistent quality, food safety and service efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: The successful candidate's duties will include, but are not limited to: Complete daily pre-service preparation, including washing and cutting vegetables, preparing sauces and broths, and portioning and marinating meats.
Inspect meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, herbs, noodles and other ingredients to ensure their freshness and quality before use.
Set,



monitor and adjust the temperatures of ovens, grills, wok burners, fryers and other cooking equipment to achieve safe and consistent cooking results.
Prepare and cook Viet Korner's Vietnamese and Asian dishes, including pho, bun bo Hue, laksa, noodle soups, banh mi fillings, rice dishes, stir-fried noodles, grilled meats and fried dishes.
Season broths, marinades, meats, stir-fries and other dishes during cooking using appropriate sauces, herbs and spices to maintain consistent flavours.
Portion and plate dine-in and takeaway meals, adding the appropriate sauces, garnishes and accompaniments in accordance with the restaurant's serving and presentation standards.
Check stock levels and ensure raw ingredients, prepared foods and cooked items are properly cooled, labelled, dated and stored in appropriate temperature-controlled facilities, with stock rotated according to
First In, First Out (FIFO) principles to maintain freshness and comply with food safety requirements.
Prepare vegetarian, gluten-free and other special dietary meals in response to customer requests and established kitchen procedures.
Assist with menu planning and estimate food and ingredient requirements based on bookings,



takeaway orders and expected customer demand.
Assist with training and guiding kitchen staff and apprentices in food preparation, cooking methods, portion control, safe equipment use and kitchen hygiene procedures.
Clean and sanitise kitchen work areas, cooking equipment, utensils and food-contact surfaces throughout and after service, following safe food-handling procedures to prevent cross-contamination and maintain a hygienic kitchen environment.
Perform other tasks as reasonably required by managers.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: A Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or a comparable cookery qualification, is preferred.
A minimum of one year of relevant experience in a commercial cook role, preferably involving Vietnamese or Southeast Asian cuisine.
Demonstrated practical skills in ingredient preparation, cooking methods and the safe operation of commercial kitchen equipment, including woks, grills, fryers and ovens.
Strong organisational, time-management and teamwork skills, with careful attention to food quality, consistency and presentation.
Sound knowledge of food safety requirements, including temperature control, safe food storage, sanitation and cross-contamination prevention.
Ability to remain productive and maintain consistent cooking standards during busy, high-volume service periods.
