Job Description Our regional NSW council client is seeking an experienced Finance Specialist for a three-month special project commencing in August.
This in office assignment will focus on strengthening long-term financial planning, testing financial scenarios and supporting preparation for a Special Rate Variation application.
The successful contractor will also validate financial models, cashflow forecasts and key performance indicators.
The role includes accommodation, a competitive hourly rate and the chance to contribute to a high-impact strategic finance project.
Key Responsibilities Review and provide independent advice on Council's Long Term Financial Plan (LTFP).
Assist with development, testing and refinement of financial scenarios using LGS Long Term Financial Planning software.
Support preparation of Council's Special Rate Variation (SRV) application and associated financial modelling.
Assist with preparation of written reports for Executive Leadership Team, Council.
Support internal staff regarding external audit work to be completed.
Validate financial models, cashflow forecasts, debt projections and key performance indicators.
Prepare clear,



concise reports and presentations for non-financial stakeholders, including Councillors and Executive Leadership.
If require review budget final budget adjustments as part of a Quarterly Budget Review.
If required review annual financial statements, audit findings and management actions.
Desired Skills Experience Extensive experience in local government finance.
Demonstrated experience preparing or supporting Special Rate Variation (SRV) applications.
Strong knowledge of NSW local government financial sustainability requirements and IPART processes.
Experience using LGS Long Term Financial Planning software (or equivalent local government modelling platforms).
Strong understanding of council budgeting, financial statements and audit processes.
Ability to analyse complex financial information and translate it into practical recommendations.
Excellent report writing and stakeholder engagement skills.
CPA, CA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
