Cloud DevOps Engineer Contract to 31/12/2026 plus extensions| Carseldine |Hybrid Working We are partnering with a leading Queensland Government client to recruit an experienced Cloud DevOps Engineer.
In this role you will be an integral part of a modern transformation initiative, contributing to the optimisation of software delivery processes and the efficient management of cloud infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Key responsibilities: Design and build the CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform Champion DevSecOps and GitOps principles Manage cloud infrastructure environments through automation (AWS, Confluent, Azure, ...) Design and manage artifact build to host code in up-to-date ways (Serverless, containers) Manage orchestration containers and serverless Build monitoring and observability solution to monitor performances Participate in creating internal devops standard for domains What we're looking for?
Requirements Skills Cloud platform expertise with AWS (VPC, serverless, ECS, IAM, etc ...) Strong Knowledge of IAM DevOps/SRE (CI/CD observability, incident response, reliability) IaC tool expertise with Terraform (provisioning, managing, state files, locks, etc ..) Scripting proficiency: Python, Bash, Java (nodejs is a bonus)



Advanced GIT skills for managing IaC (branching strategies, PR, reviews, etc ...) Good development practices (DRY, AHA, modules, advanced HCL logics) Secrets management good practices and security focused coding A solid understanding of networking (DNS, CIDR, subnets, firewalls, load balancing, etc ...) A strong belief in DevOps and GitOps core concepts and the "owning things" philosophy Demonstrated ability to work in a team and strong communication skills.
Nice to have: Any AWS or terraform certification is appreciated Kafka proficiency (Confluent a bonus) Azure and AD related skills Database management (Oracle, DB2, DynamoDB, and so on ...)
