Senior Commercial Litigation Lawyer (8-10+ Years PAE)

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced litigator to join one of Australia's leading boutique Franchising, Intellectual Property and Commercial law firms, and head up the litigation department of the practice.

IP Partnership Lawyers is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Senior Commercial Litigation Lawyer (8-10+ years PAE) to build out a new litigation division of the practice. About the Role

This role requires someone with an eye for detail and high care factor for client outcomes.

You would be working without supervision, and expected to manage your day, and supervise a junior litigator to assist you.

The role would suit someone ambitious,



and who is ready to manage a newly established litigation division involving complex commercial disputes and intellectual property disputes (particularly Trade Mark disputes and Federal Court Trade Mark hearings).

Someone with experience in IP Litigation would be ideal, however only commercial litigation experience is essential.

The firm generates a lot of litigation work, and this work has previously been referred out to litigation firms. The ideal candidate would also bring their own referral relationships to the firm to build out a division, where they would share the results of the success.

Your responsibilities will include:

Managing commercial litigation matters from inception through to resolution.

Advising and acting in intellectual property disputes, including trade mark, copyright, confidential information and misleading or deceptive conduct matters (experience highly regarded).

Conducting mediations, interlocutory applications, negotiations and settlement discussions.

Drafting pleadings, affidavits, submissions and complex legal correspondence.

Appearing in Court where appropriate and briefing Counsel.

Advising clients on dispute resolution strategies with a strong commercial focus.

Managing client relationships and providing exceptional service.





Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers and support staff.

Contributing to the ongoing growth and development of the firm's litigation practice.

About You

The successful applicant will have:

1. 10+ years' post-admission experience in commercial litigation.

Strong experience managing litigation matters independently from commencement through to resolution.

Excellent drafting, advocacy and negotiation skills.

Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking.

Exceptional communication and client relationship skills.

The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a collaborative team.

The following will be highly regarded:

Experience in Intellectual Property litigation, including trade marks, copyright, Australian Consumer Law and confidential information disputes.

Experience acting for franchisors, SMEs and growing businesses.

Existing client relationships or business development experience.
