We are looking for a Maintenance Employee to join our team at the Oakburn Processing Plant and support the ongoing operation of our facility.
Key Responsibilities (not limited to):
The position reports to the Maintenance Manager and has direct working relationships with the Plant Manager, other Supervisors and Leading Hands. The holder of this position is also responsible for carrying out the work in accordance with Baiada standards and requirements as applicable. The position is primarily responsible for carrying out repairs and maintenance to the plant machinery and ensuring that all work they perform is carried out in a safe manner following to Baiada standards and systems
- Maintain, overhaul, and fit mechanical components and equipment
- Diagnose, install, and remove bearings, mechanical seals, and gland packing
- Service mechanical drives and transmission assemblies
- Install, level, and align industrial machines, plant, and pipework
- Perform general machining, geometric development, and fabrication techniques
- Modify, repair, and shape fabrications
- Execute manual heating, thermal cutting, gouging, and mechanical cutting
- Competently perform brazing, silver soldering, and welding (GMAW, MMAW, GTAW, and oxy)
- Utilise hand, power, and precision tools accurately
- Interpret technical drawings, perform measurements, and calculate basic computations
- Layout work accurately by marking off/out
- Plan daily tasks, follow quality procedures, and attend maintenance training
- Isolate, shut down, and work safely with industrial machines and materials
- Comply with the work permit system and safety protocols for industrial chemicals
- Assist with incidental duties and peripheral tasks as required by the role.
Essential Qualifications / Licences:
- The successful candidate will be required to hold a trades qualification in a specialised field – Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining) OR Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking)
- The expectation is that the position holder will not attempt to operate tools or undertake work that they are not formally qualified to do
- The successful candidate will also have previous experience in working within a maintenance team in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the intensive food processing industry.
Required Skills (Must-haves):
- Good communication skills – verbal and written, and the ability to work with others as part of a team
- Good mechanical aptitude and well-developed problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, shift-based food manufacturing environment
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Reliable with a strong work ethic
- Punctual and well presented
- Current Driver’s License.
