To work with us in this role, you don’t need to have any energy experience. We need talented people who are ready for challenge and growth and value a sense of care and belonging. Why? Because our vision is to lead the way with smarter energy solutions. Play your part in helping us to put the customer first and transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for us all.

Shape the Future of Energy in Western Sydney

As the energy landscape evolves, so does the complexity of planning and operating our network. We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer - Future Energy Planning to provide technical leadership and strategic direction that will help shape the future of Endeavour Energy's distribution network.

This is a critical senior engineering role where you will lead complex network planning investigations, support major customer connections, evaluate innovative energy solutions, and provide technical governance across a diverse portfolio of network investments. Your expertise will directly influence how we support customer growth, enable electrification, integrate renewable energy resources, and deliver reliable, affordable energy for the communities we serve.

About the Role

Reporting to the Future Energy Planning leadership team, you will act as a recognised technical authority, providing expert guidance, peer review, mentoring, and assurance across network planning activities.

You will play a key role in identifying network constraints, developing cost-effective solutions, and delivering strategic planning outcomes that balance customer needs, network performance, risk and investment efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead complex network planning studies,

connection assessments and strategic investigations across distribution and sub-transmission networks.
- Assess network performance under current and future demand scenarios, including high penetration of distributed energy resources (DER), battery storage, EV charging, electrification initiatives and emerging technologies.
- Identify existing and future network constraints and develop optimal network and non-network solutions.
- Develop long-term area strategies, network development plans and investment recommendations that support customer growth and network reliability.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to engineers within the Future Energy Planning team.
- Act as the key technical escalation point and undertake independent peer reviews to ensure planning recommendations are technically robust, defensible and aligned with business requirements.
- Support business case development, forecasting activities and regulatory planning submissions, including contributions to key network planning reports.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders including developers, customers, planners, regulators and industry participants to support efficient connection and network development outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement of planning frameworks, methodologies, tools and governance processes.
- Provide strategic advice on future network development, investment optimisation and emerging planning requirements.

You will bring:

- A Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in electricity distribution planning, network planning, power system studies and/or complex connection assessments.

- Strong capability using power system analysis and planning tools such as PowerFactory or equivalent.
- Proven experience providing technical leadership, mentoring and peer review within an engineering environment.
- Robust understanding of risk-based planning principles, economic assessment methodologies and network investment decision-making.
- The ability to independently manage complex technical work and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and practical recommendations.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Progress towards Chartered Professional Engineer status (Engineers Australia) or equivalent professional accreditation will be highly regarded.
