Right now, I close nearly every job Cro&Co; wins. I'm the owner, and for years the sales have run through me. It's worked, we've grown into a strong metal roofing business across NSW doing private, insurance and builder work — but it's also our ceiling. I'm hiring the person who takes winning and pricing work off me and makes it their own.
This is the first real sales seat we've had. You won't be slotting into someone else's system; you'll build it. And you won't be starting from a cold desk either — there's already a backlog of warm quotes sitting there waiting for someone to chase them the way they deserve.
What you'd actually be doing: getting up on the roof, working out what the job needs, pricing it so it makes money, and closing it. Homeowners, insurance work, builder contracts — the mix keeps it from ever getting dull. You'll run your own pipeline and follow up like it matters, because around here it does.
The thing I care about most is margin. We don't buy work by dropping our price. If you're the type who reaches for a discount the second a customer pushes back, we'll drive each other up the wall. If you can hold a price, sell the quality,
and walk away from a job that won't make money — we'll get on just fine.
You'll suit this if you've sold and estimated in roofing, construction or trades: you can read a roof, talk to a builder, and price a job without guessing. You go and find work rather than waiting for it to land. You keep your own numbers straight and you actually live in a CRM. (If "I don't do paperwork" is a line you've used, this isn't the one for you.)
On money: a competitive base benchmarked properly for the role, a vehicle, and — the part that matters — uncapped commission paid on the profit of the jobs you win, not the turnover. Win good work at a positive margin and you'll earn accordingly, no ceiling. That's deliberate. I want your incentive and mine to be the exact same thing.
To apply, skip the cover letter. Send your résumé and tell me two things: the best job you've ever won and how you closed it, and a time you walked away from a deal because the numbers didn't work. Those two answers tell me more than any CV.
