About the Role
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join the NEPEAN Engineering team based in Prestons. Reporting to the Production Manager, this hands-on role will see you program, set up and operate CNC machines to manufacture one-off production components to a high standard of quality, precision and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set up and operate CNC vertical and horizontal borers, mills and lathes.
- Perform precision milling, turning, boring and drilling to produce high-quality manufactured components.
- Review factory orders and drawings to determine job specifications and requirements.
- Carry out dimensional inspections and monitor product quality throughout production.
- Load and unload products safely while ensuring correct product orientation in machinery.
- Monitor and change cutting tools as needed to maintain machining efficiency and quality.
- Enter, retrieve, title and store CNC programs and maintain source files.
- Operate manual machines including mills, lathes, drills and saws when required.
- Support the Production Manager and Supervisors with additional tasks when machine downtime occurs.
About You
- Trade qualification such as Certificate III in Engineering, Fitter Machinist or Toolmaker trade qualifications.
- 2–5 years’ experience as a CNC Machinist.
- Sound knowledge of Mazatrol, Heidenhain and Fanuc controls.
- Experience with CAD/CAM and PowerMill is an advantage and will be highly regarded.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, work orders and technical specifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A collaborative approach, flexibility and willingness to support the broader team when required.
- Organisational and time management skills
