About the Role
St Alberts College is seeking a reliable and motivated Junior Maintenance Officer to join our Maintenance team. This position is ideal for someone looking to build a career in facilities, maintenance, and property services within an educational environment.
The successful applicant will assist in maintaining the college's buildings, grounds, and facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming workplace for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with general maintenance and repair tasks across the college campus.
- Perform routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
- Carry out minor carpentry, painting, plumbing, and handyman duties as required.
- Maintain outdoor areas, including gardening, mowing, edging, and general groundskeeping.
- Complete cleaning duties including:
- Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming designated areas.
- Cleaning classrooms, offices, staff facilities, and common areas as required.
- Emptying bins and managing waste disposal and recycling.
- Cleaning windows, outdoor furniture, and other facilities.
- Assisting with emergency cleaning and spill response when required.
- Support the setup and pack-down of college events and activities.
- Assist with deliveries, stock movement, and equipment transportation.
- Respond to maintenance and cleaning requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.
Essential Requirements
- Current and valid Australian Driver's Licence.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake maintenance and cleaning duties.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling and outdoor work.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety practices.
- Eligibility to work in Australia.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience in maintenance, cleaning, facilities management, groundskeeping, or a related field.
- Trade qualification or relevant vocational training (advantageous but not essential).
- Experience working in a school, college, or educational environment.
- Current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).
