What you'll be doing
As the Midwifery Unit Manager,
you will provide visible leadership and operational management for the Maternity and Newborn Care Service, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality and woman-centred care. You will support and develop staff, drive clinical excellence and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal outcomes for women, babies and families.
· Lead and coordinate daily clinical and operational activities within the maternity service
· Manage patient flow, resource allocation and discharge planning to ensure efficient service delivery
· Drive compliance with NSW Health policies, accreditation standards and evidence-based practice
· Lead quality improvement initiatives, audits, risk management activities and service evaluations
· Support, mentor and develop staff through education, coaching, performance management and professional development programs

Essential Criteria:
· Registration: Registered Midwife with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
Selection Criteria:
1.
Demonstrated extensive clinical experience and post registration qualification in the relevant speciality and nursing professional development/ education.
2. Demonstrated ability to lead and implement change within the context of best practice clinical care and workplace culture.
3. Demonstrated ability to design, implement and evaluate the midwifery service at the ward level, and provide support and guidance to ensure an appropriately skilled and qualified nursing and midwifery workforce, working within appropriate models of care.
4. Demonstrated effective and high level communication skills including negotiation and conflict resolutions skills in addition to proven ability to motivate and engage people in the clinical setting.
5. Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous improvement whilst ensuring currency of practice in the relevant specialty.
6. Demonstrated ability and commitment to collaborative and integrated multidisciplinary teamwork, aimed at building and strengthening partnerships with consumers and key stakeholders to provide best practice service delivery.
7. Strong commitment to the on-going development/enhancement of nursing practice within a patient centred, multi-disciplinary clinical setting.
8. Relevant skills for management – financial management of budget; rostering/recruitment, Incident management, human resource management in performance reviews and implementation of improvement plans, excessive sick/annual leave management. Recruitment and auditing including training in database programmes and data entry.
