About the role

As the Quality Director, Pathology Services, you will play a critical leadership role in establishing one of Victoria's new Public Pathology Networks, bringing together pathology services across the Parkville Precinct under a unified quality and governance framework. Working as part of the senior leadership team, you will lead the strategic development and integration of quality, safety and risk management systems across multiple pathology laboratories, ensuring consistent, high-quality and patient-centred services.

You will drive the harmonisation of quality systems, accreditation processes and governance frameworks to support a single, high-performing pathology network. Partnering closely with Executive leaders, Clinical Directors, the General Manager Pathology, Quality Managers and external health service partners, you will champion continuous improvement, innovation and collaboration while ensuring the Network is well positioned to achieve future accreditation and deliver exceptional outcomes for patients, clinicians and the broader Victorian public health system.

Key Accountabilities

- Lead the Network's quality, safety and risk strategy across all pathology services.
- Drive accreditation readiness, governance and continuous quality improvement.
- Oversee the integration and harmonisation of quality systems and reporting.
- Provide expert advice to Executive leaders on quality, risk and patient safety.




- Establish performance measures to monitor quality, compliance and service outcomes.
- Foster collaboration across partner health services to strengthen network governance.
- Champion innovation and digital quality initiatives to improve service delivery.
- Promote a culture of excellence, safety and continuous improvement across the Network.

About You

You are an experienced pathology quality leader with a strong track record of driving quality, safety and governance across complex healthcare environments. You bring strategic leadership, accreditation expertise and the ability to influence, collaborate and lead change across multiple stakeholders.

You will have:

- Tertiary qualifications in Science or Medical Laboratory Science, with postgraduate qualifications in Quality Management or a related field.
- Extensive senior leadership experience in quality or operational management within a multidisciplinary pathology service.
- Expert knowledge of ISO 15189:2022, NPAAC standards, NATA accreditation and quality management systems.
- Proven experience leading quality improvement, clinical governance, risk management and accreditation activities.
- Exceptional leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a commitment to continuous improvement and The Melbourne Way.
