Established Category Buyer – Men’s Accessories – 10‑month max term contract at THE ICONIC, based in Sydney, NSW, AU.
In this role you will shape the Men’s Accessories category, curating a selection that reflects latest trends and meets evolving customer needs. You will work with the commercial, planning, marketing, operations and finance teams to deliver a customer‑centric assortment, manage inventory, negotiate contracts, and drive profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand and execute company‑wide strategies and OKRs.
- Conduct market research to stay current on trends and products, making recommendations on product and brand selection.
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain adequate stock levels.
- Evaluate vendor performance and support the selection, deactivation and exit process.
- Negotiate favorable terms and conditions for commission‑based and wholesale vendors.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and industry regulations.
- Identify emerging trends and source new products that resonate with customers.
- Maintain accurate records of vendor details, including brand plans, SKU lists and department brand profile matrix.
- Propose data‑driven decisions and cost‑saving opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and collaborate with vendors to achieve shared goals.
- Support onboarding of vendors with internal teams and provide ongoing support.
- Collaborate with key brands to build assortment.
- Propose strategies for managing under‑performing brands.
- Ensure accuracy of contract terms and conditions.
- Collaborate with marketing to identify GTM and promotional opportunities.
- Develop and implement strategic road‑maps aligning with commercial strategies and customer segments.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Adapt to market changes and continuously learn current skills.
About You – Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience as a buyer in a high‑volume business.
- Proficient in Excel reporting (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Strong communication skills and keen eye for detail.
- Excellent time‑management skills.
