Associate Project Manager

The Associate Project Manager assists the Project Manager and the broader Project Management Team in the end‑to‑end delivery of projects and sub‑projects, ensuring they meet defined objectives and contractual obligations. The role supports the objectives of each project, including cost, schedule, scope and quality, and facilitates clear, consistent communication across a broad network of internal and external stakeholders to drive customer alignment and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

- Definition, management and ownership of the assigned scope of work, including schedule, cost and quality outcomes.
- Provide leadership, direction and delegation to the team as required.
- Develop the approach for the assigned scope to achieve outcomes as per Contract/Project Directive, identifying opportunities to maximise results.
- Prepare, monitor and revise plans, estimates, cost accounts and schedules for the scope of work to meet contract objectives.
- Assess risk related to the assigned scope.
- Lead and present status at Steering Committee meetings, Gate Reviews, Customer Reviews and Progress Meetings.
- Manage contract variations and scope changes as required.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the solution.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders.

Qualifications

- Tertiary qualifications in Science, Engineering or a business discipline.
- Experience meeting the competency level requirements outlined above.




- Experience in leading systems projects.
- Demonstrated understanding of the lifecycle of system development projects.
- Demonstrated ability to lead staff within a team environment and foster cooperation.
- Proven ability in internal and external customer liaison.
- Experience producing and reviewing project documentation.
- Demonstrated scheduling and planning skills.
- Experience with Cost Schedule System Reporting (CSSR) or a related Earned Value Management system.
- Australian citizenship and ability to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to baseline/NV1/NV2 level.
- Information regarding nationality and citizenship may be requested for export control compliance.
