About the Role
We are seeking a reliable Livestock Farm Hand to join our Wagyu cattle operation in Heywood, Victoria.
This role is suited to someone with dairy, cattle or general livestock experience, or a motivated applicant who is willing to learn and develop practical skills in livestock care, calving observation, animal health reporting and farm operations.
Breeding and animal health are important parts of our farm operation. The successful applicant will support day to day livestock operations, cattle handling, calving observation, animal health monitoring, feeding routines, basic maintenance and livestock records under the direction of the Farm Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- - Daily cattle checks and observation of animal health and behaviour
- - Assisting with feeding routines, water checks and feed intake observation
- - Observing cows and calves during calving periods and reporting concerns promptly
- - Supporting basic animal health tasks where trained and authorised
- - Assisting with cattle movements, yard work, drafting, weighing and tagging
- - Supporting breeding related yard preparation and livestock handling under instruction
- - Entering basic livestock records, treatment notes and movement information into AgriWebb or similar systems
- - General farm duties including fencing, water infrastructure checks, yard preparation and maintenance
- - Operating farm vehicles, ATVs,
tractors or machinery where trained and authorised
- - Reporting issues clearly and promptly to the Farm Manager
About You
- - Dairy, cattle, livestock or farm experience preferred
- - Positive communication and willingness to report issues early
- - Good animal observation skills or willingness to learn
- - Good literacy and ability to complete accurate records
- - Ability to use, or learn to use, AgriWebb for livestock data entry
- - Physically fit and capable of outdoor farm work
- - Strong work ethic and ability to work independently once trained
- - Calm and respectful approach around cattle
- - Honesty, accountability and willingness to learn
- - Calving or calf rearing experience
- - Basic animal health experience
- - Low stress cattle handling experience
- - AgriWebb or livestock recording experience
- - Tractor, ATV, ute, trailer or machinery experience
- - Fencing, water system or general farm maintenance experience
