About the Role

We are seeking reliable and compassionate Support Workers to provide high-quality care to a male client with complex needs based in Gateshead, NSW (approximately 25 minutes south of Newcastle).

Living with Cerebral Palsy, Dysphagia, Epilepsy, and an Intellectual Disability, our non-verbal client requires dedicated support with personal care, manual handling, modified meal preparation, and health monitoring. This role offers consistent morning and evening shifts and is ideal for experienced disability support workers (SIL background), aged care professionals, or Registered Nurses (RNs) looking for regular or additional, purpose-driven work.

Shifts on Offer

- Weekday Mornings: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM (2:1 shift working alongside a second team member).
- Evening Shifts: Wednesday, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM (1:1 shift, with flexibility for additional 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM shifts on other days).

- Weekend Mornings: Saturday, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM.
- Evening Shifts: Wednesday, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM (1:1 shift, with flexibility for additional 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM shifts on other days).

What You Will Do

- Personal & Continence Care: Assist with showering, grooming, toileting, and continence management.
- Manual Handling & Mobility: Safely execute transfers utilizing commodes and ceiling hoists and assist with operating a motorized wheelchair.
- Medication & Enteral Support: Administer morning medications, assist with modified diet meal preparation (dysphagia care), and provide enteral feeding support (PEG feeding—orientation and training provided on-site by the client’s Registered Nurse).
- Seizure & Health Monitoring: Carefully monitor seizure activity, maintain accurate tracking logs, and complete formal documentation, shift notes, and incident reports.
- Team Collaboration: Work seamlessly as part of a 2:1 morning shift team, maintain open communication with family members and health professionals, and foster a supportive environment.

About You

- Experienced: Minimum 3 years of hands-on support experience, ideally from an Aged Care, Supported Independent Living (SIL), or Nursing background.
- Skilled in Complex Care: Confident in medication administration, manual handling/hoisting, dysphagia support,



and detailed administrative charting/monitoring.
- Proactive & Reliable: Highly punctual, attentive, and able to commit consistently to the required morning and evening rostered hours.
- A Strong Team Player: Demonstrate a positive, supportive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-worker environment.
- Essential Credentials: Current First Aid and CPR certificates, valid NDIS Worker Screening Check, Australian Driver's Licence, and reliable personal transport.
