We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Mechanic / Work Foreman to join our team in Tumut. This role is suited to a reliable trade professional who can lead from the front, supervise workshop activities and deliver high-quality mechanical repairs, servicing and maintenance across vehicles, plant and equipment.

About the Role

As the Senior Mechanic / Work Foreman, you will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day mechanical work, supporting staff, diagnosing faults and ensuring jobs are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You will play an important role in maintaining equipment reliability, minimising downtime and supporting a productive workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and coordinate daily workshop and field service activities
- Diagnose, repair and maintain light vehicles, heavy vehicles, plant and machinery
- Allocate work, monitor job progress and support tradespeople and apprentices
- Complete preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and mechanical inspections




- Ensure all work is completed in line with safety, quality and compliance requirements
- Maintain accurate service records, job cards and maintenance documentation
- Liaise with management, operators and suppliers to keep work moving efficiently
- Promote a positive, organised and safety-focused workplace culture

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified and experienced mechanic with strong leadership skills, practical problem-solving ability and a commitment to secure work practices.

Skills and Experience

- Relevant mechanical trade qualification
- Experience with mechanical repairs, diagnostics, servicing and maintenance
- Previous foreman, leading hand or supervisory experience highly regarded
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, braking systems and electrical fault finding
- Ability to work independently and lead a team in a busy workshop environment
- Good communication, organisation and time management skills
- Commitment to workplace health and safety
- Current driver licence essential; HR, HC or machinery licences would be an advantage
