Cedar Steel (NSW) Pty Ltd is offering a full-time position for an experienced Civil Engineer with demonstrated experience in the field of structural steel fabrication, erection, and construction processes including the coordinating of workshop production, fabrication, and site installation activities.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Civil Engineer is responsible for coordinating structural steel projects from design approval through fabrication and installation. Working closely with clients, engineers, architects, workshop personnel, and installation teams, the role ensures projects are delivered accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and delivery programs.

The position will suit a candidate who is experienced in working in an environment that requires a high attention to detail and who is skilled in communicating with stakeholders. The key duties include: Draft structural systems and shop drawings for accuracy, constructability, and compliance to expected quality standards prior to fabrication. Review structural systemsand shop drawings prepared by team members.

Coordinate structural steel projects from award through to fabrication, delivery, and installation. Liaise with builders, engineers, architects, certifiers, installers, suppliers, and clients to ensure projects progress efficiently. Coordinate production priorities with workshop supervisors to achieve fabrication deadlines.





Monitor fabrication progress and proactively resolve production or scheduling issues. Coordinate RFIs, drawing revisions and engineering changes, and presenting variation costs for clients’ approval. Prepare quotes after assessing architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.

Cross checking profiles, and all structural details such as connections, base plates, top plates. Manage the procurement of steel materials and subcontract services to support project delivery. Coordinate galvanising, protective coatings, transport, deliveries, and installation programs, and ensure abidance to required standards.

Follow up outstanding approvals, site measurements, and project information to maintain production schedules. Prepare fabrication work packs and issue approved documentation to the workshop. Operate and manage the Kraftech X-Calibre steel processing system and CNC machinery as required.

Manage stock control and conduct regular stocktakes of structural steel sections, plates, fittings, and consumables. Maintain quality control throughout fabrication to ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, and company standards. Maintain accurate project records and ensure internal management systems remain up to date.

Monitor project progress, identify variations, and recommend operational improvements where required. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, quality, and project delivery. Are you the one?

Do you have 2+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication, construction, project coordination,



or a similar role? Do you have a strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, erection, and construction processes? Do you have the ability to read and interpret structural engineering, fabrication, and architectural drawings?

Are you experienced in coordinating workshop production, fabrication, and site installation activities? Do you have knowledge of Australian Standards relating to structural steel fabrication and installation? Do you have an understanding of quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures within a steel fabrication environment?

Do you have knowledge of procurement, inventory, and stock control processes? Are you proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite? Licenses/Certification needed Current NSW Driver's Licence White Card (Construction Induction) Required attributes Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills Strong attention to detail Effective in problem-solving Good time management Motivated Reliable Ability to work independently and as part of a team Punctual Energetic Qualification & experience Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

Minimum 2 years' experience in structural steel fabrication, construction, project coordination, or a similar role. Experience with Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, Advance Steel, or similar drafting software is advantageous. Experience operating Kraftech X-Calibre steel processing machinery or similar CNC equipment is advantageous.

Experience using ERP, job management, or project management software.
