Job Description
AKOM INVESTMENTS PTY LTD We are seeking a Carpenter who will be responsible for building, installing, maintaining, and repairing structures and fixtures using timber, plywood, wallboard, and other materials. This role involves interpreting plans and specifications, taking accurate measurements, cutting materials, and assembling frameworks, while ensuring all work meets construction standards, safety requirements, and project specifications.

Task & responsibilities Interpret drawings – Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine material requirements, measurements, and installation methods. Select materials – Choose, order, and prepare timber and other construction materials required for building projects.
Cut and shape – Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other materials using both hand and power tools.
Frame walls and floors – Construct and erect wall frameworks, sub flooring, and floor structures, ensuring proper alignment and structural accuracy. Frame roofs – Construct and erect roof framing systems and panel systems with precision and structural integrity.
Install exterior elements – Fit fascia boards, roof sheathing, and external cladding in accordance with project specifications. Install frames – Fit door frames and window frames accurately to meet design and building requirements. Assemble components – Put together pre-cut timber and fabricated components to create structures, fittings, and frameworks ready for installation.
Join and finish – Cut, fit, and join timber components accurately to ensure structural integrity and high-quality finishes; construct and dismantle concrete formwork as needed. Maintain and comply – Repair, replace, and maintain damaged or existing structures, fittings, and fixtures; work with varied materials (timber, plastic laminates, perspex, light metals); and ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations, building codes, and quality standards at all times. Qualification & experience Certificate III in Carpentry More than 1 years' experience in the relevant field Proficient in reading construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Skilled in use of hand and power tools for cutting, shaping, and assembly. Experience with timber, laminates, perspex, and light metals. Hands-on experience in wall, roof, and floor framing, plus formwork.
Sound knowledge of WHS regulations and building codes. Physically fit; able to work at heights and in wide-ranging conditions. Valid driver's license and White Card
