Are you ready to solve transportation puzzles and help Amazon deliver a world-class experience to our customers? We're looking for motivated Transportation Specialist to join our Sort Centre team in Kemps Creek.
As a Transportation Specialist, you'll be a vital member of Amazon Transportation Services — overseeing trailer movements, coordinating yard activities (including check-ins, traffic flow, and dock communications), conducting yard audits and inductions, and completing driver training programs as required. You'll play a key role in keeping our transportation network running smoothly and safely.
Please note: This role requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, including both day and night shifts.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and distribute a daily End of Shift report detailing all inbound and outbound loads, including delay reasons and action items for late arrivals or departures.
- Communicate with in office teams and the Network Operations Centre to provide context on driver delays and late departures.
- Coordinate with multiple carriers on site-related escalations, pickup and delivery issues, and weather-related disruptions to yard operations.
- Develop and communicate the daily load plan, including any changes, to internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor operations daily with Fulfilment Centre teams, transportation peers, and carriers to ensure all trailers arrive and depart on schedule.
- Consolidate data from multiple sources to generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports — identifying data integrity issues and patterns that can be proactively addressed.
- Engage with carrier and delivery drivers in the yard to maintain organisation, safety, and minimise delays.
- Utilise internal systems (such as sortation platforms, freight management consoles, and yard management systems) to support reporting on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
You’ll Also
- Make safety a priority at all times and adhere to all company rules and regulations.
- Support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers to ensure trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and local regulations (including size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, and incident reporting requirements).
- Work across locations within the node as needed to support the business (38 hours/week plus overtime as required).
- Be comfortable standing and walking during shifts of up to 12 hours, and frequently pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching (with or without reasonable accommodation).
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
- High school or equivalent
- Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required
- 1+ years of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) experience
- Experience working in warehouse, logistics, transportation, distribution centre or equivalent
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with yard management systems, freight management tools, or similar operational software
- Experience coordinating with multiple external partners or stakeholders
- Knowledge of load quality standards or freight safety compliance
- Experience analyzing operational data and generating performance reports
