Spectrum Automation has built a strong reputation delivering intelligent automation, control, and industrial electrical solutions across Australia. For over 30 years, we’ve partnered with leading manufacturers and industrial operators to improve reliability, productivity, and performance through smart engineering and innovative automation systems.
Now, we’re bringing that expertise to Brisbane, and we’re looking for high-performing Automation Technicians who want more than just another maintenance role.
If you thrive on solving complex faults, commissioning systems, working on cutting-edge industrial projects, and being surrounded by capable people who genuinely know their craft, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
About the Chance
This role is ideal for a hands-on Automation Technician who loves fault finding, problem solving, and making systems run better than they did yesterday.
You’ll work across a variety of industrial environments supporting the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, optimisation, and commissioning of automation and control systems. From breakdown response through to project delivery and system upgrades, no two days will look the same.
Most importantly, you’ll be joining at the beginning of our Brisbane growth journey, giving you the chance to become a key part of building the local team, culture, and long-term success of the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
Installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining industrial automation and control systems
Diagnosing and rectifying complex automation and electrical faults across live industrial environments
Assisting with commissioning PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, VSDs, and control systems
Supporting shutdowns, upgrades, breakdown response, and optimisation projects
Integrating sensors, drives, instrumentation, and automation devices
Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and automation drawings
Performing preventative maintenance and reliability improvement works
Collaborating closely with engineers, electricians, and project delivery teams
Maintaining high-quality technical documentation and reporting
Travelling to client sites across Brisbane and surrounding regions as required
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for technicians who genuinely take pride in their craft.
The kind of people who can walk into a plant, identify issues others miss, stay calm under pressure, and solve problems properly, not just temporarily.
To be successful, you’ll ideally have:
QLD Electrical Licence (essential)
Minimum 3 years’ experience in industrial automation or electrical maintenance
Strong PLC fault-finding and troubleshooting capability
Experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Schneider systems highly regarded
Excellent diagnostic and analytical skills
Ability to interpret electrical and automation schematics confidently
