Essential Coffee is seeking a positive, motivated, dedicated, hands-on Senior Finance qualified to manage and lead the Accounting, Finance, and Company Secretarial functions while partnering closely with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and Board to execute effective strategies aligned with the company's goals. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role offers genuine career progression, with the current CFO planning to retire in the near term.
THE ROLE
This is a full-time Senior Leadership role that can be based at our Burleigh Heads office on the Gold Coast, Point Cook (Melbourne), Adelaide (SA), Bibra Lake (WA), or Hamilton (New Zealand). There is also the option to work 30 hours per week, providing greater flexibility for family commitments.
This senior Finance, Accounting, and Company Secretarial role supports both Australia and New Zealand and includes:
- Oversight of payroll, BAS, payroll tax, workers' compensation, and FBT lodgements, along with all statutory reporting across Australia and New Zealand
- Preparation of annual budgets, stock, inventory, and sales forecasts
- Preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards
- Monitoring and reporting on cash flow and expenditure
- Financial, management, Board, and shareholder reporting
- Continuous improvement of reporting, systems, controls, and procedures
- Leadership, management, and mentoring of Finance and support teams across Australia and New Zealand
- Working closely with external accountants on taxation and compliance matters
- Maintaining asset registers
- Overseeing accurate and timely bank reconciliations
- Ensuring the integrity of general ledger accounts
- Overseeing annual tax work papers and supporting the preparation of external tax returns
- Liaising with banks and lenders regarding financing and trade finance arrangements
- Company Secretarial duties, including Board and shareholder meetings, agendas, and minutes
- Partnering with logistics and operations teams on planning, forecasting, and budgeting to maintain appropriate stock levels
- Assisting with and overseeing end-of-month processingPreparation and review of business cases and line-of-business performance reviews
REQUIREMENTS
- CPA or CA qualified
- Strong working knowledge of Xero
- Experience in distribution, FMCG, or B2B environments is highly regarded
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in corporate and/or public practice accounting
- Strong communication skills with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach
- Highly organised with excellent problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with Unleashed Inventory is highly desirable
