An excellent locum opportunity is available for a Specialist General and Acute Medicine Physician to join the team at Toowoomba Hospital for a three-week placement during winter 2026.

This role offers the opportunity to work within a busy and well-supported tertiary referral setting, managing a broad range of acute and complex medical presentations while enjoying the lifestyle benefits of Queensland's largest inland city.

Remuneration Up to $2,303.70 per day

The Role Join a dynamic Acute and General Medicine service with exposure to a diverse and rewarding case mix.

Responsibilities include:

- Daily consultant-led ward rounds
- Assessment and management of acute medical admissions
- Providing clinical guidance for Emergency Department referrals
- Participation in multidisciplinary team meetings
- Supervision and support of junior medical staff and trainees
- Delivery of education and teaching activities
- Attendance at HOT (Hospital Outreach Treatment) clinics
- Contributing to patient flow and discharge planning initiatives

You will be supported by:





- Resident Medical Officers
- Emergency Department Registrars
- Multidisciplinary allied health teams
- Experienced nursing staff

Roster

Monday to Friday 7:30am – 4:00pm No mandatory on-call requirements. Optional weekend on-call cover may be available by discussion and mutual agreement.

Requirements Applicants must possess:

- Specialist Registration with AHPRA
- Experience in General and Acute Medicine
- Eligibility to obtain a Medicare provider number
