Role
As the Work Health & Safety Specialist , you will be the organisation's subject matter expert, providing strategic and operational WHS advice across the business. Working closely with leaders and the People & Culture team, you'll drive safety initiatives, ensure legislative compliance, and foster a proactive safety culture across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice and guidance on Work Health & Safety legislation, policies, and best practice.
- Partner with leaders to identify, assess, and mitigate workplace risks while promoting a positive safety culture.
- Lead workplace incident investigations, hazard management,
and corrective action planning.
- Oversee workers compensation and return-to-work processes, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
- Review, develop, and implement WHS policies, procedures, and safety frameworks to ensure legislative compliance.
- Deliver WHS training, education, and awareness initiatives to build organisational capability.
- Monitor WHS performance, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports to support continuous improvement.
About You
- Demonstrated experience in a dedicated Work Health & Safety role, ideally within a corporate, professional services, association, or membership-based environment.
- Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and contemporary safety practices.
- Experience managing workplace incidents, risk assessments, workers compensation, and return-to-work programs.
- Proven ability to influence, coach, and build trusted relationships with leaders and key stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with a practical and proactive approach.
