We’re looking to fill our programs with original thinkers and innovators from all degrees of study. Challenging and rewarding – our programs will get your career off to a flying start.

Your New Role

Build your career in People at Westpac. Gain hands-on experience in a team that helps shape the employee experience across one of Australia's largest organisations. You'll learn how we build inclusive cultures, support leaders and teams, and create environments where people can thrive.

The People Team plays a key role in helping Westpac attract, develop and retain talent. We partner with leaders across the business to solve real people challenges, from hiring and development to engagement and performance.

As a graduate, you’ll rotate across a range of People functions, such as Employee Experience, Culture, Reward, People Advisory and Talent. You’ll develop a broad understanding of how strategic people practices drive business success, while building the skills and experience to launch a rewarding career in People.

What can you expect as a People Graduate?

This is a 12-month program with 3 x 4-month rotations.

As a Graduate in the People team, you’ll complete three rotations across different areas of the function, giving you the opportunity to build broad experience, explore your interests, and grow your professional network.

Our graduates gain exposure to a wide range of meaningful work. This could include partnering with leaders to provide People advice, supporting talent and culture initiatives, contributing to employee experience programs, helping shape employer brand campaigns,

or working on strategic projects that influence the future of work at Westpac.

You’ll have the chance to contribute to projects that impact thousands of employees, while learning from experienced People professionals and senior leaders. Along the way, you’ll develop valuable skills in stakeholder engagement, problem‑solving, project delivery and strategic thinking.

Beyond your day-to-day role, you’ll be encouraged to get involved in graduate committees, community initiatives and employee networks, helping you build connections across the organisation and make the most of your graduate experience at Westpac.

Future Career Opportunities

Our graduates go on to build rewarding careers across a range of specialist areas. Examples of roles former graduates are now performing within our business include:

- People Business Partner
- Reward Manager
- Performance Consultant
- Moderator / Facilitator

Who are we looking for?

We welcome applications from graduates of all degree disciplines. While no specific degree is required, students with backgrounds in Business Management or Human Resources or Psychology or Law or Arts and Humanities often bring skills and perspectives that are highly relevant to this stream.

Eligibility

- You must be in your final year of study of a university degree, or
- You have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, but it must be no more than three years ago.
- You also need to be an Australian or Recent Zealand Citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident when you apply.

You will need to be available to start with us as a permanent employee in February 2027.
