About the role
We are seeking a Senior Solicitor with a minimum 3 year's experience in Family Law to join our family law practice in Brisbane. This is a full-time position based at our Brisbane QLD 4000 office. As a Senior Solicitor, you will play a key role in delivering comprehensive legal services to our diverse client base, managing complex family law matters, and providing strategic guidance on sensitive and high-value cases. This position offers the opportunity to develop your expertise further, mentor junior staff, and contribute meaningfully to the firm's continued growth and success.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of family law matters, including divorce, separation, property division, and children's matters
- Provide expert legal advice to clients on complex family law issues and potential outcomes
- Prepare and file legal documents, including applications, affidavits, and settlement agreements
- Represent clients in negotiations, mediation sessions, and court proceedings
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategy and client advice
- Mentor and supervise junior solicitors and legal staff members
- Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and updates on case progress
- Ensure all work complies with professional standards, ethical obligations, and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to the development of firm procedures, templates, and best practice guidelines
- Participate in business development activities and contribute to the firm's growth objectives
What we're looking for
- Admission as a solicitor in Queensland with 5+ years of post-admission experience in family law
- Substantial experience managing a diverse caseload of family law matters from inception through resolution
- Demonstrated expertise in property settlements, matrimonial law, and children's matters
- Strong advocacy and negotiation skills with proven ability to achieve favorable outcomes for clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly
- Proficiency in legal research and case analysis
- Experience in client relationship management and business development
- Proven leadership capabilities and experience mentoring junior legal staff
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to ethical practice
- Ability to manage multiple matters concurrently and work effectively under pressure
- Familiarity with legal practice management software and technology tools
