Island Kids Early Learning Centre – Cowes VIC

Island Kids Early Learning Centre is looking for a passionate, reliable, and organised Centre Cook to join our friendly, family-owned team.

We are an 80-place early learning service caring for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. We believe healthy, home-style meals play an important role in children's growth and wellbeing, and we're looking for someone who shares that passion.

This is a permanent part-time position, working between 1 and 5 days per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 2:00 pm (approximately 6 hours per day). This role will be shared with our current Centre Chef, with days and responsibilities discussed during the interview based on availability and experience, you don't need qualifications but you do need to know bulk cooking.

About the Role

As our Centre Cook, you will prepare fresh, nutritious meals and snacks while ensuring our kitchen is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food safety.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Planning and preparing seasonal menus in line with nutrition guidelines.

- Preparing and serving morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea.

- Catering for children with allergies, food intolerances, and other dietary requirements.

- Washing dishes and thoroughly cleaning all kitchen equipment, benches, utensils, and food preparation areas.





- Maintaining an exceptionally clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen at all times.

- Completing food safety documentation and following the centre's Food Safety Plan.

- Assisting with food ordering, stock rotation, and kitchen organisation.

About You

You will:

- Have knowledge of food allergies, anaphylaxis, and dietary requirements.

- Take pride in maintaining a spotless, well-organised kitchen.

- Be able to work efficiently, manage your time well, and stay on top of daily tasks.

- Have a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and enjoy working as part of a team.

- Hold a current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or be willing to obtain one).

- Have previous experience in a commercial kitchen, childcare, aged care, or a similar environment (preferred but not essential).
