OCRT Consulting
Canberra
OCRT Consulting is a sovereign and veteran-owned SME delivering expertise and outcomes to Government, Defence, industry and the private sector. We are a cohort of diverse talent aligned by the same goal: to work on impactful projects that build sovereign capability and make a positive difference in the lives of those around us. Our deep experience includes strategy, planning, risk management, intelligence, innovation, technology integration, and operational support.
The Opportunity
OCRT has assembled a small, senior team to support Army in reviewing and updating current doctrine across a program of Land Warfare Procedures spanning armoured and combat engineering capability areas. We're seeking a Subject Matter Expert with operational grounding in armour or combat engineering to join this team, reviewing and drafting doctrine content, working closely with our editorial and subject matter expert support to refine and finalise it, and engaging directly with Defence stakeholders, schools and units to validate and progress the work.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, draft and update assigned Land Warfare Procedures, ensuring content is technically accurate and aligned with current Army doctrine and capability requirements
- Own and coordinate a prioritised program of doctrine deliverables from initial review through to final, Defence-accepted product, including scheduling against fixed milestones
- Act as the primary liaison with Defence stakeholders, schools and units, including validation and consultation sessions
- Work closely with embedded editorial and subject matter expert support to refine and finalise content across the program
- Track progress, manage risk, and flag emerging doctrine, procedure or policy gaps arising from the review process
- Participate in governance, milestone review and assurance activities as required
- Deliver a handover and knowledge transfer at completion of the engagement
What We’re Looking For
- Operational experience in armoured, combat engineering, or a related combat corps environment
- Experience operating in and around Army units, schools and the broader Defence workplace
- Project coordination or project management experience; comfortable owning a schedule, tracking milestones and managing multiple concurrent deliverables
- Capable of authoring and amending technical/procedural content; supported by dedicated editorial and SME expertise
- Understanding of Army doctrine development processes and standards, or closely related experience (capability development, training development, or similar)
- Those who have transitioned from Army service into Defence industry consulting or contracting are strongly encouraged to apply
Essential requirements:
Active NV1 clearance (minimum) | Canberra-based, with attendance at Russell as required
What OCRT Offers
- Competitive remuneration including annual reviews, salary packaging, performance bonuses and incentives
- Professional development with training support and career progression
- Flexible working arrangements, paid parental leave, option to purchase additional annual leave
- Work directly shaping the doctrine underpinning Army's land combat capability
