The duties and responsibilities of position are :

Tasks

- Manage the day to day flow of the kitchen
- Check food stock and order to top up and record properly
- Examining food to ensure quality
- Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
- Preparing and cooking food
- Seasoning food during cooking
- Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
- Storing food in temperature controlled facilities
- Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
- Plan and up date menus and daily specials and estimate food requirements
- May need to explain the ingredients of the dishes
- Train kitchen staff and apprentices
