The Victorian Government seeks to appoint a highly accomplished candidate to the Office of the Labour Hire Licensing Commissioner.

The Labour Hire Authority (the Authority) is an independent statutory body established under theLabour Hire Licensing Act 2018to regulate the provision of labour hire services in the State.

As a regulator, the Authority is energetic and proactive in pursuing its statutory objectives to improve the integrity and transparency of the labour hire industry and protect labour hire workers from exploitation.

The Authority is a self-funded agency which satisfies its corporate functions independent of its portfolio department. The Authority has offices in Bendigo and Melbourne, and the Commissioner will work across both sites.

The Position

The Labour Hire Licensing Commissioner provides strategic leadership and is accountable for the performance of the Authority’s statutory functions and obligations.

We are looking for an exceptional leader with demonstrated experience and capability in:





- Leading organisations at a senior executive level with related regulatory or law enforcement functions
- Understanding of regulatory and enforcement strategy and approaches within relevant state and federal legal frameworks

To be successful in this role, you will bring ethical and inclusive people leadership, superior stakeholder collaboration and influence and strong communication skills. You will have a track record of demonstrating robust judgment, setting flexible strategic direction, applying measured risk management and showing a commitment to regulatory innovation.

As the Commissioner, you will need to consider alternative views before taking timely action and be comfortable and resilient when making difficult independent decisions.

You will be motivated to put labour hire workers at the centre of everything the Authority does and support and educate labour hire providers who are doing the right thing.

The Governor in Council will appoint the Commissioner on the recommendation of the Minister for Industrial Relations.
