Our services include general practice, family medicine, preventive healthcare, chronic disease management, skin cancer checks, women’s health, immunisations, procedures and diagnostic tests. As part of our continued commitment to patient care, we are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to support our doctors and patients with safe, compassionate and productive medical practice nursing services.
Job Description: A Registered Nurse (Medical Practice) provides professional nursing care and clinical support to patients in a medical practice setting, including patient assessment, treatment-room procedures, immunisations, chronic disease support, health education, clinical documentation and follow-up care based on patients’ clinical needs and practice requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ health needs by obtaining medical histories, recording observations, measuring vital signs and identifying issues requiring medical review or follow-up.
- Provide professional nursing care and treatment-room support in accordance with professional nursing standards, workplace procedures and patient care requirements.
- Assist General Practitioners with consultations, health assessments, chronic disease management, preventive healthcare and patient follow-up.

- Perform general practice nursing procedures and diagnostic tests, including wound dressings, suture removal, ECGs,
spirometry and health checks.
- Support doctors during minor surgical procedures, skin cancer checks, skin biopsies and other clinical procedures by preparing equipment, assisting during treatment and monitoring patients.
- Assist with chronic disease care planning, recalls, referrals, follow-up appointments and communication with external healthcare providers.
- Provide patients with appropriate education and advice regarding vaccination after-care, wound care, chronic condition management, medication use, preventive healthcare and general wellbeing.
- Coordinate communication between patients, doctors, allied health professionals, pathology providers, specialists and other healthcare organisations to support continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date clinical records, including treatment notes, immunisation records, care plans, recalls and correspondence.
- Maintain appropriate infection prevention and control standards, including cleaning, disinfecting and sterilising clinical equipment, instruments, treatment rooms and work areas.
- Monitor clinical supplies, vaccines, consumables and emergency equipment, including stock rotation, expiry checks, ordering and safe storage.
- Assist with clinical organisation and practice administration.

- Respond appropriately to urgent clinical situations within the scope of practice, including initial assessment, escalation to a doctor,
basic emergency support and incident documentation.
- Maintain current knowledge of nursing practice, professional registration requirements, privacy obligations, patient safety standards and general practice procedures.
- Work collaboratively with doctors, patients, families, allied health professionals and external healthcare providers to ensure safe, effective and patient-centred care.
Skills & Experience
- Holds current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Holds a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent recognised nursing qualification.
- Previous experience as a Registered Nurse in a general practice, medical centre, primary healthcare, hospital or similar clinical setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of general practice nursing duties, including immunisations, wound care, chronic disease support, health assessments and treatment-room procedures.
- Understanding of infection control, sterilisation, cold-chain management, clinical safety and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to undertake clinical organisation and practice administration duties within a general practice setting, including recalls, care coordination, documentation and treatment-room workflow.
- Ability to use medical practice software and maintain accurate electronic patient records.
- Strong communication, time management, organisational and patient care skills.
- Able to work professionally with doctors, patients, families, allied health professionals and external healthcare providers.
- Be responsible, reliable, compassionate and able to work effectively as part of a clinical and administrative team.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy medical practice environment while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality.
