The Role
We are seeking a commercially minded and detail-oriented Sales Coordinator to join Tempo’s FMCG Team, working across ambient food, frozen food and alcohol products. The role combines day-to-day sales coordination with sales data analysis and end-to-end logistics support for major Australian retail accounts.
Working closely with customers, suppliers, overseas factories, freight providers and internal teams, the Sales Coordinator will maintain accurate order and shipment information, monitor sales and inventory performance, and turn operational data into clear updates and practical actions.
Candidate Experience
The successful candidate will have sales coordination, customer service, logistics or commercial reporting experience within FMCG, food and beverage, consumer goods, retail or a related workplace. Experience supporting major Australian retailers and working with sales orders, shipment data, inventory reports and customer forecasts will be highly regarded.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
· Process customer sales orders accurately and maintain complete order, pricing, product and delivery documentation in internal systems.
· Communicate with retail customers daily, providing timely updates on order status, stock availability, delivery schedules and issue resolution.
· Liaise with suppliers and overseas factories to follow up production progress, packing requirements, readiness dates and shipping documentation.
· Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouses and transport providers to monitor shipments and resolve delays or discrepancies.
· Maintain accurate shipment trackers covering purchase orders, production milestones, ETD, ETA, clearance, delivery and proof-of-delivery status.
· Monitor customer orders, inventory levels, stock cover, out-of-stocks, excess stock, slow-moving stock and expiry exposure,
escalating risks early.
· Collect, clean, validate and consolidate sales, customer, inventory and logistics data from internal systems, retailer portals and spreadsheets.
· Prepare accurate weekly, monthly and ad hoc reports covering sales, volume, margin, forecast, customer performance, inventory and service levels.
· Build and maintain practical dashboards and KPI scorecards that provide clear visibility of sales performance, order fulfilment and logistics risks.
· Analyse actual sales against forecast, budget and prior periods; identify variances, trends, risks and opportunities and provide concise commentary.
· Support demand and replenishment planning by reviewing sales history, promotions, seasonality, customer forecasts, lead times and inventory movements.
· Maintain product, customer, pricing and sales master data; investigate discrepancies and strengthen data accuracy and consistency.
· Review loading inspection reports and shipment documents to confirm alignment with sales orders and customer requirements.
· Coordinate product samples and supporting documentation for customers, new product submissions and internal reviews.
· Collaborate with Sales, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain and Compliance to resolve issues, improve reporting and support commercial projects.
· Standardise and automate recurring trackers and reports where practical, reducing manual handling and improving timeliness and reliability.
Skills and Qualifications
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP or equivalent functions, data validation, charts and large-dataset management.
· Working knowledge of ERP, CRM, retailer portals, inventory systems or transport and shipment tracking systems is advantageous.
· Sound understanding of sales order processing, import or domestic logistics, inventory movements and customer delivery requirements.
· Solid numerical reasoning and the ability to turn complex information into clear commercial insights and actions.
· High attention to detail, with a disciplined approach to data quality, reconciliation and version control.
· Clear written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Ability to manage competing deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
· Relevant tertiary qualification in Business Analytics, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Supply Chain or a related discipline is preferred.
Key Measures of Success
