A leading organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join its Finance team in a highly visible role with broad exposure across financial control, technical accounting, reporting, governance and business partnering.
This is an opportunity for a technically strong accountant who wants to move beyond traditional month end activities and take greater ownership of financial reporting quality, accounting judgement, stakeholder advice and continuous improvement.

About the role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in the quality, accuracy and insight of the financial control environment.

You will remain hands on across month end close, journals and reconciliations while also providing technical accounting support, preparing governance papers, partnering with senior stakeholders and helping develop the wider Finance team.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and review month end journals and complex accounting entries
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items
- Analyse financial results, explain key movements and support timely month end close
- Prepare technical accounting and position papers for complex or judgemental matters
- Support Audit Committee, Board and governance papers
- Provide practical accounting advice on transactions, projects and contracts
- Lead or support audit workstreams and respond to audit findings
- Support statutory reporting, BAS, FBT, financial covenants, tax governance and treasury requirements
- Prepare management reporting analysis, variance analysis and performance insights
- Support Group Flash, Business Performance Reporting,



budgeting and forecasting
- Partner with Commercial, Property, Project Managers and other stakeholders
- Lead process improvement and standardisation initiatives
- Support finance transformation, systems and reporting improvements
- Coach, guide and review the work of other Finance team members About you
You will be a technically strong accountant with the confidence to work through complex accounting matters, exercise sound judgement and communicate recommendations clearly.
You will ideally bring:
- 5 or more years of relevant finance experience
- Experience across financial accounting, management reporting, audit support, technical accounting or financial control
- Robust technical accounting capability
- Robust analytical skills and attention to detail
- Experience with month end close and balance sheet reconciliations
- The ability to work effectively with senior and non finance stakeholders
- Experience reviewing work and supporting the development of other team members
- Advanced Excel capability and experience with enterprise finance systems or reporting tools
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Business or Finance
- CA ANZ, CPA Australia or equivalent professional membership strongly preferred
Experience across infrastructure, property, telecommunications, recurring revenue, lease accounting, project accounting, treasury, tax or Big 4 environments would be advantageous. Why consider this opportunity?
