CODEX Building Consultants is seeking an Access Consultant to join our Brisbane team. This role is ideal for someone with a background in Access Consulting, Architecture, or Civil Engineering who is interested in inclusive design, accessibility, and practical building compliance.

You may already be working in access consulting, or you may be looking to move into a specialist accessibility role from a related built-environment profession.

We are looking for someone who is technically minded, professional, client-focused, and commercially aware. This role suits a person who understands that access consulting isn't only about compliance it’s about creating safe, dignified, and usable spaces for people of all abilities.

About the Role

You will work with experienced consultants across a diverse range of projects, providing practical access advice to support compliant, inclusive, and buildable outcomes. The role will include:

· Reviewing architectural drawings for access compliance

· Undertaking desktop reviews and site inspections (construction site experience will be highly regarded)

· Identifying access barriers and practical design solutions

· Preparing clear Access / DDA reports and advice

· Assisting with Performance Solutions and access strategies

· Liaising with clients, consultants, authorities, and project teams

· Maintaining project files, time expend in projects and relevant records

· Supporting the Access / DDA team with general project coordination

· Work closely with our Associate Access & DDA Consultant across New South Wales and Queensland, as part of our fast-growing access consulting division supporting clients and projects across both states.

About You

You are professional, organised, and solution focused. You communicate clearly, take pride in your work, and understand the importance of building strong,



lasting relationships with clients, project teams, and colleagues. You will ideally have:

· Must be an Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident.

· A tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Architecture, Design, Human Movement or Civil Engineering together with a Certificate IV or Diploma in Access Consulting (or equivalent demonstrated experience), a design background, and familiarity with the construction industry and be aware of the Work Health and Safety requirements for the office and onsite.

· The ability to read and interpret architectural drawings

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Good attention to detail

· A practical understanding of design, construction, and compliance processes

· Confidence using Word, Excel, and PDF markup software such as Bluebeam

· The ability to manage deadlines and work collaboratively

· A current full driver's license

· A genuine interest in accessibility, inclusive design and the end-user experience, with a humble, professional and people-focused approach.

· Knowledge of the NCC / Building Code of Australia, the Disability Discrimination Act, the Disability (Access to Premises — Buildings) Standards 2010, and the AS 1428 suite of Australian Standards will be highly regarded.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will ideally have tertiary qualifications in one of the following areas:

· Architecture

· Civil Engineering

· Another relevant built-workplace discipline





· Certificate IV or Diploma-level study in Access Consulting, or a willingness to complete further access-related study, will be highly regarded.
