NEPEAN Engineering is now inviting motivated future tradespeople to apply for our 2027 Apprentice Boilermaker intake based at our Prestons, NSW facility.

This apprenticeship is a chance to learn from experienced tradespeople, work with real equipment, and develop the practical skills that can set you up for a long-term career in metal fabrication and boilermaking.
About the chance
This fixed-term apprenticeship runs for up to four years and is designed to support you as you learn fabrication, welding, measuring, assembly and general engineering workshop practices. By the end of the apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to become a qualified Boilermaker and build a solid foundation for a career in structural steel fabrication, welding and manufacturing.
You’ll gain exposure to welding processes, cutting, grinding, marking out, fabrication, assembly, hand and power tools, and workshop processes while learning how to work safely, accurately and efficiently in a modern engineering environment.
What you’ll learn
- How to read drawings, technical specifications and job requirements.
- How to measure, mark out, cut, shape and assemble metal components.
- How to use welding equipment and fabrication techniques to meet quality requirements.
- Boilermaking,
fabrication and assembly practices used across engineering and manufacturing projects.
- How to use a variety of hand and power tools and support day-to-day workshop duties.
- Safe work practices, WH&S; requirements and how to contribute positively in a team environment.

Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for enthusiastic, reliable and safety-minded applicants with mechanical aptitude, initiative and a genuine interest in learning a fabrication and boilermaking trade. You’ll enjoy practical hands-on work, be comfortable working as part of a team, and be willing to learn from experienced tradespeople in a busy workshop environment. Completion of Year 12 is required, and applicants currently studying or interested in a Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade will be highly regarded.
