The role
Reporting to the General Manager, Construction, the Manager, Facilities Infrastructure Services leads Council's facilities infrastructure services function, responsible for the performance of a diverse portfolio of operational, community and commercial buildings.
Created as part of Brisbane City Council's broader Construction Branch realignment, this executive role provides an opportunity to establish a more coordinated and customer-focused approach to facilities service delivery across the organisation.
Leading approximately 75 employees and overseeing a budget of around $30 million, you will provide strategic leadership across service delivery, compliance, maintenance planning, commercial arrangements and performance improvement, ensuring facilities are safe, compliant, reliable and responsive to customer needs.
Working closely with Asset Owners and Asset Management, you will help shape service delivery priorities, inform investment decisions and strengthen the systems and governance that support Council's facilities portfolio.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the delivery strategy and operating model for Council's facilities infrastructure services.
- Drive service performance, customer outcomes and value-for-money delivery across a diverse facilities portfolio.
- Provide strategic input into lifecycle planning, asset prioritisation and investment decisions.
- Ensure strong financial stewardship across operational and minor capital programs.
- Lead a high-performing workforce focused on safety, capability and continuous improvement.
- Influence senior stakeholders on facilities performance, risk, compliance and service priorities.
- Sponsor initiatives that improve productivity, asset intelligence and customer experience.
- Strengthen governance, compliance and assurance across facilities operations and maintenance activities.
- Oversee commercial and supplier performance to achieve cost, quality and service outcomes.
- Contribute as an enterprise leader across Council's broader executive agenda.
About you
You are an experienced executive or senior leader with a track record of leading complex service delivery functions within facilities management, property services, infrastructure operations, asset management, maintenance, construction or similarly service-intensive environments.
You understand how to balance operational performance with strategic leadership, building strong stakeholder relationships while driving accountability, service excellence and continuous improvement.
You will bring:
- Experience leading complex service delivery functions through periods of change, growth or transformation.
- Demonstrated success building high-performing, customer-focused teams.
- Strong capability in governance, compliance, risk and performance management.
- Commercial and financial acumen across operational budgets, service contracts and supplier relationships.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Experience improving service delivery, operating performance and organisational capability.
- A team-oriented leadership style that builds trust, accountability and results.
