Project Engineering Manager - ATM
As part of our Civil group, the Project Engineering Manager - ATM will support the Air Traffic Management (ATM) programme as required in the tender, planning, and implementation phases of Saab’s Air Traffic Management projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage a multi‑disciplinary engineering team to deliver complex ATM system projects.
- Apply systems engineering processes and rigor to ensure projects are executed to the highest standards, aligned with organisational policy and best practices.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and ensure successful delivery of technical solutions that meet operational requirements.
- Develop and maintain the project Systems Engineering Management Plan.
- Manage the resource plan for ATM project engineering resources within budget and planning constraints to deliver engineering outcomes.
- Ensure project engineering resources possess the necessary competence and experience.
- Maintain regular and effective liaison with the customer, managing scope, resource, and schedule risks, and escalating as appropriate.
- Manage all project technical issues and risks, controlling technical scope through collaboration with the customer and Project Manager.
- Establish and maintain baselines defined in the SEMP and ensure appropriate control of baseline configuration in accordance with the ATM Programme Configuration Management Plan.
- Comply with legislation and company policies, processes, and instructions, including those relating to non‑discrimination, safety, duty of care, and the quality management system.
- Other accountabilities related to Saab Australia’s Delegation of Authority (000AAT206).
Requirements:
- Degree in engineering or computer science with recent relevant experience.
- Significant experience in the application of systems engineering principles in ATM domain projects, especially in design, implementation, and support.
- Ability to navigate complex technical challenges while delivering innovative solutions aligned with strategic goals for in‑country ATM capability.
- Proficient knowledge of ATM systems and their integration.
- Demonstrated awareness and capability to address whole‑of‑capability/systems issues, including operational safety, Integrated Logistics Support, Human Factors, and supportability.
- Competent knowledge of security in the context of the Australian government’s Information Security Manual (ISM).
- Ability to manage complex technical issues within project cost, time, and quality constraints.
- Operational or engineering experience in the Air Traffic Management domain is highly desirable.
- Eligibility for chartered engineering status and state engineering registration (Queensland/Victoria).
- As a defence security clearance is required, applicants must hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to baseline level or be able to obtain one.
Flexible work arrangements, such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9‑day fortnight, will be considered for this role.
