The Assistant Head of English (SACE) has a key role to assist the Head of English with the management of aspects of the curriculum, especially as it applies to the SACE English subjects: Stage 1 English, Stage 2 English and Stage 2 English Literary Studies, and Stage 1 and 2 Essential English where required.
About the Role
The Assistant Head of English (SACE) will assist the Head of English by co-ordinating curriculum, curriculum development, assessment and recording procedures for SACE English subjects.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Engage in a number of administrative tasks as may be reasonably delegated by the Head of English through negotiation and approved by the Dean of Studies. This may include the following:
- Supervision, preparation and/or writing of curriculum statements and/or assessment plans for SACE English subjects.
- Assistance with the preparation of subject descriptions in the annual subject booklets.
- Annual booklist requirements.
- Contribution to the annual report of the English Faculty.
- Manage the SACE Year 11 and 12 English subjects:
- Design the Learning and Assessment Plans.
- Assist and support teachers in the awarding of SACE grades for assessment tasks to maintain grade consistency in alignment with SACE standards.
- Advise staff regarding assessment tasks.
- Liaise with the Head of SACE in the distribution of information from the Dean of Studies and SACE Board.
- Be the point of contact with moderators.
