Job Description

Cleared Recruitment is seeking a Senior Field Support Engineer to join a high-performing Defence technology team based in Brisbane.

This is a senior technical role responsible for embedding advanced C4I capabilities with Defence customers. You will provide expert-level support, lead complex software deployments and integrations, deliver technical training, and act as a trusted advisor to Defence stakeholders.

Working closely with project teams, engineers and Defence personnel, you will play a critical role in ensuring customers maximise the value of their systems while providing leadership and mentoring to other engineers.

This role is ideally suited to someone with strong technical expertise, Defence domain knowledge, and a passion for solving complex operational challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Performing advanced deployments and integrations of SitaWare software across the customer's C4I environments, including complex clustered and coalition configurations for use in testing, training, exercise, and actual operations.
- Conducting advanced troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and rectification across SitaWare, adjacent products, operating systems, and platforms.
- Applying demonstrated expertise in adjacent products, operating systems, and platforms to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Applying a thorough understanding of the ADF's utilisation of Battle Management System (BMS) software to advise on, and improve, BMS deployments.
- Delivering advanced technical training and software support for ADF personnel and Defence contractors,



both in classroom and workshop environments.
- Providing technical training, mentoring, and leadership to other Systematic Field Support Engineers and staff.
- Remaining abreast of emerging technologies and following and implementing industry best practices.
- Contributing to the development and delivery of software features and updates, including participation in beta release testing and C4I software improvement activities.
- Acting as a key point of contact to the ADF for technical inquiries and C4ISR support.
- Collaborating globally with Systematic teams to address technical challenges and drive product enhancements.
- Collecting feedback from the customer and feeding the learning loop, both internally in Systematic and to the customer, to ensure alignment of customer expectations and product roadmaps.
- Helping to ensure projects are delivered within the agreed scope and on time.

Education / Certifications Required

- Qualifications or certifications in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Relevant military technical experience will be highly regarded.
- Training and instructional qualifications are advantageous.
- NV1 Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
- Australian Citizenship is essential.

Knowledge / Skills Required

- Significant experience as a Field Support Engineer or in a comparable senior technical support role, ideally including experience with SitaWare or similar C4I / BMS software.
- Certifications or training in the field of IT, Electrical Engineering, or similar, or a comparable technical military career. Formal training qualifications (e.g. short-course training qualifications) are highly regarded.
- Demonstrated expertise in adjacent products, operating systems, and platforms, including advanced Windows and Linux administration, Active Directory, database management systems, and XMPP chat.
- Proven ability to perform advanced deployments and integrations of software solutions.
- Proven ability to conduct advanced troubleshooting and fault rectification across networks, operating systems, and C4I software.




- A thorough understanding of the ADF's utilisation of BMS software and the application of C4I across the air, sea, and land domains, including knowledge of Australian Defence terminology, use cases, practices, and procedures.
- Experience delivering advanced technical training to end users and administrators.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring, guiding, and providing technical leadership to other engineers.
- Experience with scripting (e.g. JavaScript, JSON, and XML) and hardware infrastructure components such as servers.
- Excellent customer service and the ability to build trust and communicate confidently with senior stakeholders, including senior Defence officers (LTCOL and above).
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical findings and improvement opportunities clearly for discussion with the client.
