Odyssey House NSW’s trauma-informed services set us apart as a leader in the support service space for alcohol and other drugs dependency. Our teams help clients to meet their goals and address underlying trauma and mental health issues, while also developing new skills to improve all aspects of their lives.

We provide a diverse range of services to individuals, families and community education. Our services include withdrawal services; one-on-one assessment and treatment by psychologists and counsellors; group therapy; residential rehabilitation; and free education at Odyssey College.

- We're seeking an AOD Peer Worker who draws on their own lived experience of AOD, mental health and recovery
- Build genuine, mutual relationships with consumers and role model recovery
- Provide one-to-one and group peer support
- Advocate for the consumer voice within the multidisciplinary team
- Help people stay connected and work toward the goals that matter to them
- Build connections with peer workers and services across the region
- Delivered within our Model of Care
- Works across the Sydney North region (Hornsby, Northern Beaches and Ryde) as the service grows
- Adaptable, multi-site work across Sydney North

- Relevant VET or tertiary qualification or currently studying
- Lived experience of AOD and mental health challenges, service use and personal recovery
- Demonstrated capacity to engage with and mentor people toward recovery goals in a structured way
- Strong organisation, time management and emotional resilience, maintaining professional boundaries in challenging situations
- Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of harm minimisation, recovery oriented and trauma informed practice
- Emotional resilience and the ability to stay calm while supporting clients in high emotion situations
- Current NSW Driver Licence
- WWCC (for paid work)
- National Police Check (>1 yr old)
- Unrestricted right to work in Australia
- COVID Vaccinate
