Are you passionate about supporting First Nations communities to shape Australia’s clean energy future?

The First Nations Clean Energy Network is seeking a Community Engagement Lead (Current South Wales) to establish and grow the Network’s presence across New South Wales by building trusted relationships with Traditional Owners, Aboriginal organisations, government, industry and community partners. This leadership role combines strategic engagement, community organising, project leadership and relationship management to strengthen First Nations participation in Australia’s clean energy transition.

The First Nations Clean Energy Network, established by Original Power, works to ensure First Nations people benefit socially, culturally and economically from Australia’s renewable energy future. We support community-led clean energy, advocate for policy reform and strengthen partnerships that create long-term opportunities for First Nations communities.

About the Role

This First Nations Identified Position is offered on a fixed-term (1–2 years) basis and can be undertaken full-time or part-time. The position is based in New South Wales, with a salary of $110,000–$130,000 pro rata, plus access to salary packaging. Working with communities and key stakeholders, you will:

- Lead the Network’s engagement across New South Wales.
- Build trusted relationships with Traditional Owners, First Nations communities and Aboriginal organisations.
- Lead community engagement, workshops and regional capacity-building activities.




- Develop partnerships across government, industry and the community sector.
- Support community-led clean energy initiatives and contribute to policy, advocacy and strategic communications.

About You

- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Experience leading community engagement, consultation or project delivery.
- Excellent communicator with strong organisational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and willingness to undertake extensive travel across New South Wales.

Experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, Traditional Owner engagement, policy or strategic communications will be highly regarded.

This position is designated as a First Nations Identified Position. The filling of this position is intended to constitute a special measure under section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), and s 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic) and s 8(4) of the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 (Vic).
