Solar Citizens is Australia’s leading consumer advocacy organisation for cleaner, cheaper and more secure energy. We mobilise hundreds of thousands of Australians to accelerate the uptake of rooftop solar, batteries, electric vehicles and other consumer energy resources. Our work includes community organising, policy advocacy and national campaigning to drive policy outcomes that lower household energy bills, strengthen energy security and reduce carbon emissions.

About the Role

This is a rare executive leadership opportunity at Solar Citizens. As Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will help shape and lead the organisation, reporting to the CEO and joining the Executive Leadership Team. Your focus will be guiding operational excellence and building the capability, culture and resilience needed to deliver the organisation’s ambitious 2026–2029 Strategic Plan. Responsibilities include:

- Partnering closely with the CEO to deliver the strategic plan and translate strategy into operational execution.
- Leading organisational planning, people, finance, governance, risk management,



compliance and continuous improvement.
- Recruiting, developing and retaining exceptional staff, nurturing managers and supporting learning, leadership development and succession planning.
- Ensuring organisational systems are scalable, documented and resilient, with financial stewardship and business continuity at the forefront.
- Acting as CEO delegate when required and providing organisational leadership during periods of CEO travel or absences.

About You

- Experienced operational leader with skills in people, culture, finance, governance, risk and organisational systems.
- Collaborative, strategic, values-driven and comfortable operating in fast-changing environments.
- Demonstrated commitment to climate action, consumer advocacy and meaningful positive social change.
