Your Opportunity
Mechanical engineering is evolving rapidly through automation, intelligent systems and advanced robotics. At Southern Cross University you’ll help prepare the next generation of engineers while contributing to research that makes a real‑world impact.
We’re seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering with additional expertise in mechatronics and/or robotics engineering. Whether you’re an emerging academic building your research profile or an established scholar ready to lead teaching and research at a higher level, you’ll find genuine opportunities to grow your career here.
You will deliver engaging undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, develop contemporary curriculum that reflects industry innovation, contribute to internationally recognised research, supervise Higher Degree Research students, and build meaningful industry collaborations within a supportive academic community.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging teaching across mechanical engineering with a focus on mechatronics and / or robotics engineering
- Develop innovative curriculum that integrates emerging technologies and prepares graduates for the future of engineering
- Build your research profile through publications, grant funding and supervision of Higher Degree Research students
- Collaborate with industry, professional bodies and research partners to strengthen teaching, research and student outcomes
- Contribute to course leadership, accreditation and the continued growth of engineering programs

Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline such as Mechatronics or Robotics Engineering
- Demonstrated experience teaching mechanical engineering, mechatronics and / or robotics engineering in higher education using contemporary learning technologies
- A research track record appropriate to your career stage, including high‑quality publications and the ability to attract research funding
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships across academic, industry and skilled communities
- A commitment to excellence in teaching, research, inclusion and student success

Location and Salary
- Full‑time, continuing (permanent)
- Located at either Gold Coast, QLD 4225, or Lismore, NSW 2480. Relocation assistance is available, making it easier to join our regional communities.
- ACAD Level B or C.
Salary (Academic Level B)
- Base salary: $114,482 – $135,392 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. Total remuneration up to $158,409.
Salary (Academic Level C)
- Base salary: $139,568 – $160,473 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. Total remuneration up to $187,753.
