WAVES surgery department is looking for veterinary nurses with a real passion for a career in specialist veterinary surgical care. We are currently considering full-time, part time and casual positions.
Surgical nursing is providing loving care for patients who are going through major procedures with often days of hospitalisation. Its about being the guardian of the highest standards when it comes to patient preparation and providing aseptic technique to maximise the success of a patients procedure. It is about safely monitoring anaesthetics and interacting with surgeons and anaesthetists during the surgery. Occasionally it is about also being gowned and gloved as a surgeon's assistant.
And being a surgical nurse is about caring for the advanced instrumentation used in specialist surgery including its sterile preparation for the next procedure. Some of this may sound daunting and obviously the position suits nurses with some prior background in practice, but we are also here to train the right candidates and support them so they can blossom into the nurses they want to be.
