About Element Engineering

Element Engineering Australia is redefining how real-world electronic products are designed, built, and launched right here in Perth.

With full in-house engineering and PCB manufacturing capability - including pick-and-place and vapour phase reflow - we control speed and quality from concept to working hardware, without relying on external contract manufacturers.

Engineers at Element are hands-on. You will build and validate your own hardware alongside our production engineering team, using real lab equipment and real production processes. Our engineers work closely with firmware, mechanical, and production teams on real systems with real constraints.

Every team member plays a critical role in delivering high-quality products, and every engineer directly impacts the systems they help create.

Some of Our Projects

- Rugged industrial IoT devices and sensor platforms

- Robotic systems and automation hardware

- Aerospace and drone-based payload electronics

- Medical-grade electronic control systems

- Mission-critical embedded hardware for harsh environments

- Complex PCB designs with mixed analogue, digital, and RF systems

- Precision test fixtures and custom debugging platforms

We are not just building electronics. We are building toward AI-enabled robotics and intelligent products - hardware that senses, decides, and acts - and the electronics you design here are what make that possible.

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Graduate, Junior or Mid-Level Electronics Engineer who can take ownership of their tasks, work efficiently, and deliver working hardware under the guidance of our Senior Electronics Engineer.

If you are a recent graduate: we hire on capability and drive, not years. A strong portfolio and the right attitude count for more here than time served - and you will be doing real engineering from your first week, not shadowing.

This is a fully on-site role based in our Malaga facility. The multidisciplinary nature of the work requires you to be at your desk, in the lab, and in the workshop alongside the rest of the engineering team every day.

This is not a design-only role. You will be at the bench building, testing, debugging, and supporting manufacturing when needed.

This is also not a solo role. Our best work happens when electronics, firmware, and mechanical engineers are consulting each other early and often. You will be expected to work closely with our firmware team to ensure your designs accommodate their requirements, and with our mechanical team on electronics integration and packaging.

You will:

- Design and develop PCB schematics and layouts in Altium Designer

- Perform component selection and manage procurement when required

- Export Gerber files and interface directly with PCB manufacturers for production

- Build and validate electronic prototypes and production hardware

- Perform hands-on bench testing, probing, debugging, and fault finding

- Test electronics integration with mechanical assemblies and complete products in the workshop

- Support in-house PCB manufacture and pick-and-place operations during busy periods

- Develop and document hardware test procedures and validation reports

- Design custom debugging and testing fixtures (pogo pin and jig setups)

- Interface with customers directly when required

- Assist in electrical system documentation using SolidWorks Electrical where required

You will report to and be mentored by our Senior Electronics Engineer, who has deep experience across analogue, RF, high voltage, and production electronics. There is a genuine commitment here to developing you as an engineer, with a clear pathway for growth.

About You

You live in Altium. Component selection, schematic design, and PCB layout are your core - it is what you do and what you want to get better at. You know the workflow from schematic capture through to Gerber export, and you understand the decisions that go into getting a board from design into production.

You also understand that getting a product out the door takes more than a good layout. Nothing is beneath you - whether that is running a pick-and-place line during a rush, chasing a component supplier, or probing a board at the bench until you find the fault.

You will have:

- A Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering

- Demonstrated proficiency in Altium Designer

- Solid understanding of component selection, analogue and digital circuit design, and embedded system principles

- Comfort with hands-on bench testing, troubleshooting, and measurements

- Robust communication skills and a proactive, collaborative mindset - you naturally consult with the engineers around you

- A bias toward ownership and follow-through

Portfolio Requirement

We require candidates to present personal or professional electronic design work during the interview.

Examples must demonstrate real involvement, critical thinking, and attention to detail. Academic projects are acceptable if they are significant and you can explain the decisions, trade-offs, and outcomes.

Nice to have but not essential

- Exposure to schematic simulation tools

- Experience interfacing with PCB manufacturers and managing fabrication orders

- Hands-on experience designing debugging fixtures (pogo pin test jigs, harnesses, adapters)

- Awareness of EMC and EMI considerations

- Experience with SolidWorks Electrical for electrical system documentation

- Knowledge of embedded system architecture (no firmware writing expectations)

- Exposure to high-speed digital or RF systems

Above all else, we value

Grit — persistence, resilience, and commitment

Aptitude — ability to learn, adapt, and think critically

Personability — strong interpersonal skills and genuine communication

Skills can be taught. These cannot.

We welcome applications from candidates interstate who are looking to relocate to Perth.

How to Apply

Please apply via SEEK with your Resume and a very brief Cover Letter.

We value genuine, personal applications. Tell us who you are, why you are passionate about electronics, and why you want to join the Element Engineering team.

Generic or AI-generated cover letters that all look the same won't help you stand out. We are looking for real people with clear communication. The best candidates we have hired recently all had brief, personally written cover letters, and it made a difference.

If available, please include links to a personal portfolio or examples of your design work.

Only applications submitted directly through SEEK will be considered. No recruitment agencies please.
