We are seeking a motivated, reliable, committed and experienced medical receptionist to join our team.

This role is ideal for someone with current GP practice working experience who is eager to contribute to the smooth running of our front desk operations. You must be able to multitask, stay self‑motivated, and work effectively as part of a team.

- Minimum of current 3 years' experience in a general practice environment, including some management responsibilities
- Ability to process payments and handle invoicing
- Proficient in basic administrative tasks (scanning, filing, faxing, mailing, etc.)
- Excellent time management skills, able to work in a fast‑paced environment
- Experience with medical software, Best Practice and Better Health.
- Knowledge of Medicare Benefits Schedule and relevant billing processes
- Ability to maintain accurate records for Medicare, Veterans Affairs, Workcover, and Insurance reports in a timely manner
- Experience with debt collection,



including monitoring and following up on outstanding payments
- Experience with Best Practice, PIPS, WIPS, and PRODA preferred
- Strong commitment to Quality Improvement, Risk Management, and maintaining accreditation standards (RACGP & QPA)
- A positive attitude, robust work ethic, and willingness to learn new skills

Duties Include:

- Delivering exceptional customer service, both in person and over the phone
- Managing appointments and responding to patient inquiries
- Supporting general practice maintenance and operations
- Updating and maintaining medical records and software systems
- Ensuring the practice meets accreditation and regulatory standards
- Managing collections and following up on unpaid accounts

Eligibility

Only local residents of Lake Macquarie or Newcastle with current GP practice working experience and knowledge of Best Practice and Better Health will be considered for this position.
