Senior Medical Officer – Emergency Medicine

Contract period: 22 May 2026 – 03 January 2027

Location: South Australia, 384 km north of Adelaide.

Responsibilities:

- Provide emergency medical care as a Senior Medical Officer in a 24‑hour integrated team covering general medical, surgical, and specialist services.
- Deliver high‑quality acute and stabilisation care for all patients, including trauma, maternity, paediatric, and cardiac cases.
- Participate in clinical governance, training, and audit activities in the department.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Medical degree, registered with AHPRA.
- Board‑certified in Emergency Medicine (FRACGP, FACRRM, ACEM) or senior fellow status (SMOFELLOWED).
- Minimum 3‑5 years of experience in an emergency department as senior staff.

Shift Details & Pay

- Senior Night Shift (2130 – 0800)
- Suitable for FRACGP / FACRRM / ACEM certificate / SMOFELLOWED.
- Rate: $250 per hour weekdays, $270 per hour weekends and public holidays (non‑fellowed). Fellows receive the same rates.
- Shift dates include:
- 22 May 2026 – 25 May 2026 ($3000/shift – due to urgency)
- 1 June 2026 – 3 June 2026
- 28 June 2026 – 6 July 2026
- 20 July 2026 – 25 July 2026




- 8 August 2026 – 17 August 2026
- 17 August 2026 – 22 August 2026
- 31 August 2026 – 8 September 2026
- 17 September 2026 – 21 September 2026
- 26 September 2026 – 30 September 2026
- 10 October 2026 – 27 October 2026
- 2 November 2026 – 1 January 2027

- Senior Day Shift (0730 – 1800)

- Suitable for FRACGP / FACRRM / ACEM certificate / SMOFELLOWED.
- Rate: $240 per hour weekdays, $260 per hour weekends and public holidays (non‑fellowed). Fellows receive the same rates.
- Shift periods:
- 16 September 2026 – 20 September 2026
- 21 September 2026 – 27 December 2026
- 28 December 2026 – 3 January 2027

- Senior Afternoon Shift (1300 – 2330)

- Suitable for FRACGP / FACRRM / ACEM certificate / SMOFELLOWED.
- Rate: $240 per hour weekdays, $260 per hour weekends and public holidays (non‑fellowed). Fellows receive the same rates.
- Shift periods:
- 29 June – 30 June 2026
- 31 October – 1 November 2026
- 27 December – 28 December 2026
